This is a multi-faceted role which is responsible for providing clinical supports to the organisation including assisting medical officers and registered nurses with the care of clients in the Day Surgery Unit. The position is responsible for the provision of high quality clinical care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The EN provides supports to clients before, during and after surgical procedures. The E N collaborates with clinical and non-clinical staff to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the Day Surgery Unit.The E N works within the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of services which are safe, effective and client centred.Selection Criteria EssentialDiploma of nursing and AHPRA registration as an E NIf registered prior to 2015, must also have completed the following unit of studyAdminister and Monitor Medicines and Intravenous Therapy HLTENN007 or equivalentMust be available to work every Monday and alternate Wednesdays.Minimum 12 months experience in perioperative nursing and ability to provide intravenous medicationHigh level knowledge and understanding of the principles of infection control, including aseptic techniqueDemonstrated ability to support clients and provide assistance to the proceduralist during reproductive and sexual health procedures provided under anaesthetic or sedationCurrent CPR certificateSound computer skills, including MS Office applicationsProven strong interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skillsHigh level ability to manage competing demands and adapt effectively to changeDemonstrated ability to perform tasks under the direction of the clinician with minimal supervision, as well as within a broader teamDesirableExperience in providing services to relevant population groups, particularly people from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, CALD background, people with disability and/or young peopleExperience in reproductive and sexual health and/or abortion care Other requirementsA Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check are required prior to commencement in this roleVaccination/immunisation requirements apply to this roleMust have unlimited working rights in Australia About Family Planning AustraliaFamily Planning Australia is the leading provider of reproductive and sexual health services in NSW.
